Leaks
Everything on the main tracker is live in-game right now. This page covers what isn't — split into what Epic has actually confirmed but hasn't released yet, and genuine unconfirmed rumor. See the Terms of Use for the full accuracy disclaimer.
Not live yet
Unreleased, unconfirmed, or still ahead of us. Newest first. This is what the page is for — everything already in the game is on the tracker.
October 15: v42.40 is live, and Honey and One Wish Willow left this page
The last update of the season. Epic's own v42.40 notes list
two new sprites: Honey ("Design A Sprite Winner!") and One Wish Willow,
the Obsession sprite. Both are on the tracker now with Epic's ability lines. Our own export the
same morning gives the rest: Honey is epic, One Wish Willow is
mythic, and both have all six tiers with finished art. In the files they are
WinnerESprite and CargoLying.
The same notes add the final page of Sprite Mastery rewards, "including new Quack Sprites". Quack used to sit in the dormant-variants list further down. It is live now, and the export has it on exactly five sprites: Bush, Adventure, Jonesy, Klombo and Spooky Dash. Those five tiles are on the tracker too, so it went from 145 entries to 162. More on Quack is on the Guides page.
Still unverified from v42.40
These are posted, credible and not settled. None of them are on the tracker or the codes page.
- Five new Admin Panel codes, without the codes.
@FireMonkeyat 09:15 UTC (permalink): "5 New Admin Panel codes were added this Update, each one gives: 5K Sprite Dust, 5K Sprite Dust, 5K Sprite Dust, 2 Snack Junk Buckets, 2 Llama Supply Drops". He names no code strings, so there is nothing to type in yet. - Three Yeat Lobby Hacks that play a song. LUHLEAKYZ plays "Time Passed",
PR1VAT3J3T plays "Marching" and B1GBODYSW3RVE plays "Lil Krazy", per
@frxbbaleaksat 12:46 UTC (permalink). The same account says B1GBODYSW3RVE "works and is active but gives nothing" at 09:57 (permalink). No item, no Sprite Dust: music only. - Bonus Power Hours, no dates.
@FireMonkeyat 09:07 UTC (permalink): "there are power hours setup for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays", and "unknown when". The one Epic has announced is Saturday's, on the Guides page. - 70 Sprites to finish the last Mastery page.
@FireMonkeyat 08:51 UTC (permalink): "Sprite Mastery Part 5 requires you to master a total of 70 Sprites." Epic's notes give no number. - The next downtime is the mini-season.
@ShiinaBRat 09:34 UTC (permalink): "NEXT DOWNTIME IS FOR THE MINI-SEASON".@HYPEXthe evening before (permalink) calls this "the last update before the leaked One Piece mini-season (Nov 1)". He gives no source of his own, so this is still one claim, not two. The calendar it belongs to is under "What the patch is called" further down.
October 1: Five Nights at Freddy's takes over Fortnitemares, with bosses
Epic's own account, September 27 at 13:20 UTC
(permalink):
"IT'S ME! See you October 1", tagging Scott Cawthon. Epic's news text for it, posted in full by
@FireMonkey at 13:39 UTC
and @ShiinaBR at 13:23 UTC
(permalink):
"The Fazbear Band has taken over Battle Royale. Face the animatronic animal bosses and survive
the night... if you can. Fortnitemares begins October 1!" So on Epic's word, the animatronics
are bosses in Battle Royale from October 1.
One step further, from one source. @HYPEX at 13:41 UTC
(permalink)
says you can "transform to the FNAF bosses & hunt players", and his summary at 14:07 UTC
(permalink)
adds a FNAF POI "with jumpscares" and "security camera feeds in the POI". Epic's text says
neither; both are his read of the trailer, so they wait for October 1. The skins and cosmetics
are a collab and not what this site tracks. The jumpscare Lobby Hack code in the September 17
note below did not turn up in this sweep. It turned up on September 29 as PowerOut,
and it is on the Cheat codes page.
October 1: v42.30 is live, and four sprites left this page
Epic's own Fortnitemares notes list four new sprites in the update: Spooky Dash, Vampire, the Deer (99 Nights in the Forest) and Dumpster Dive. They are on the tracker now, with Epic's ability lines. The tracker went from 101 entries to 121.
Rarity and art, from the game files. The v42.30 mapping was not out on patch day, so for a day the four showed as unrated with placeholder tiles. Our own export on October 2 reads Spooky Dash as mythic, Vampire and the Deer as legendary and Dumpster Dive as epic, and all twenty tiles have finished art. They are on the tracker now.
Still ahead, on Epic's date: "Honey Sprite (October 15): Send bees after enemies who damage you." and "Obsession Sprite (October 15): Let One Wish Willow help you collect other Sprites." Pumpkin is not in Epic's list. Both arrived on October 15, and they are on the tracker now (see the top of this page).
@FortniteStatus at 15:23 UTC (permalink): "Phase Dash has been disabled" in
Competitive play. Epic does not say what Phase Dash is. The October 2 export settles the
internal name: the PhaseDashSprite definition is called "Spooky Dash Sprite", and
no other sprite in the files carries the name. So Phase Dash is almost certainly Spooky Dash.
Two from @FireMonkey alone. "The Trick Treat Crown Sprite has been granted to those
eligible" (09:06 UTC, permalink); who was eligible, he does not say. And the Sprite Mastery
page "has been updated to now end on November 16th" (10:07 UTC, permalink), two weeks
after the season ends on November 1. His own read is that it is probably not a season delay.
Trick or Treat Crown is out, and on the tracker.
FireMonkey's "granted to those eligible" turned out to mean mastering Bounty Hunter Crown,
the same chain as the Crown variants before it (@UnrealNickVal, 09:15 UTC,
permalink),
and since October 1 dozens of players have posted it owned, mastered or up for trade. It is the
sixth Crown tile now, and the tracker went from 121 entries to 122. Every sprite but Mega Man
has a Trick or Treat definition in the files, but only the Crown's is out. One player's
"October 8th" for the rest has nobody behind it, so the other sprites get the tile when it ships.
It shipped on October 8 after all, and the other 23 are on the tracker now (Guides).
Spooky Dash in the Sprite Spree quests, from one source. @FireMonkey at 15:18 UTC on October 2
(permalink):
"Unfinished Sprite Quest Rewards: Epic Games has added two new Sprite Rewards to the Sprite
Spree Quests, being the Normal & Gold version of the Spooky Dash Sprite". Unfinished is his
word, and he does not say when the quests pay them out.
Four Lobby Hacks from launch day, redeemed. CrowsAreAfraid and PumpkinSpiceLife had two rewards each in the posts,
"turns you" from @SpushFNBR (permalink) against "everyone in the lobby" from
@RounderBR (permalink). Redeemed here on October 1, they turned us into a
scarecrow and a pumpkin, so they are on the codes page now. Whether the rest of a lobby changes too,
one account cannot see.
ImTheRealEdgelord and runSystemOverride are on the codes page as quest
locked. Redeemed
here the same day, both answered "Lobby Hack not currently available". @tagleweb_gaming
at 09:18 UTC (permalink) calls them "Quests giving a code", each "to obtain 5000 spirit dust", and
@itsmeleaky at 11:00 (permalink) lists them as "Upcoming Admin lobby codes". Upcoming
fits what the game says.
Which quests, from the game files. Our own export of the season's quest files answers it. Each code is the last step of a story Part 2 that unlocked on October 1, the season's 42nd day. runSystemOverride ends the Geno story: kneel to Geno, reveal opponents, hide in a Flusher, spread propaganda at Nightmare Neighborhood, WonkeeLand and Sunken Shores, record the Lobby Hack pieces Hope graffitied and activate her Lobby Hack, then talk to The Order. ImTheRealEdgelord ends the Wrixel (Ziggy) story: build a Supercomputer from items taken off eliminated opponents, collect Chaos Cube data and activate Cheat Codes, craft a Superhack and deliver it to The Innovation. Both quests pay 5,000 of the item YourThoughtsAreMine pays as Sprite Dust, so the reward no longer rests on one source. Hope's Lobby Hack in the Geno chain is most likely S7H-50P-R03, but the files do not spell the code out.
What S7H-50P-R03 gives. The Hope's Lobby Hack step pays 10,000 XP, the standard story amount, and counts as one Geno quest toward the Geno bonus goals. No item and no Sprite Dust: it is a story step, and it opens the steps that end in runSystemOverride.
v42.30: six new Loot Hacks
Two sources inside the first twenty minutes of the October 1 downtime. @FireMonkey
at 08:03 UTC
(permalink)
posted what reads as Epic's own patch text, "Unlock new Loot Hacks to customize your loot pool
even more", followed by six names: Last Call, Infantry Rifle, Pumpkin Launcher, Light Machine
Gun, Slap Candy Corn and Loot Hacker Sprite Variants. @FNBRintel listed the same
six at 08:19 UTC
(permalink).
What each one does, and its Sprite Dust price, neither has posted.
One of the six is a puzzle. Both list "Loot Hacker Sprite Variant(s)" as new, but the Guides page has had a Loot Hack that spawns Loot Hacker Sprites since September 10. Whether this is a new one, a changed one or the same one listed again, neither says. Epic's own Fortnitemares notes confirm all six the same afternoon, in the same words, so the list is Epic's now.
Vampire and Pumpkin: the Halloween sprites, pictured
@FNBRintel, September 28 at 18:15 UTC
(permalink):
"Upcoming Halloween Sprites: Pumpkin Sprite, Vampire Sprite: Gives siphon back based on damage
dealt up to 50% with a max levelled one!" Pictures of both followed that evening, first found by
@speedsterfn: @HYPEX at 21:20
@FireMonkey at 21:21
and @ShiinaBR at 21:26
(permalink).
Vampire already had its siphon text from two sources, in "Still in the files" below. FNBRintel's 50% matches HYPEX's top level, so that is now three. Pumpkin is a name and a picture: no ability text, no rarity, no date. Neither is dated. Shiina's preview of the October 1 update lists "Spooky Sprites" without naming any (permalink, September 30, 08:00 UTC), so these two arriving then is likely, but nobody has said so. Neither goes on the tracker until it is live. Vampire went live on October 1 and is on the tracker now; Pumpkin did not ship, and is not in Epic's list.
September 26: the Birthday Sprite arrives with Power Hours
Epic's own news text for today's Birthday Power Hours, posted in full by @FireMonkey
at 16:38 UTC yesterday (permalink): "Birthday Sprite is here - equip
one and find cake slices in Chests or from elims at max Level". The rounds start at
18:00 UTC and again at 01:00 UTC Sunday, three hours each.
@HYPEX at 16:50 UTC (permalink) lists the same: "Birthday
Sprite (cakes from Chests & elims at max lvl)". That is the September 26 from Epic's v42.20
notes, kept. So Birthday is on the tracker with the game's
own ability text, Rare from the files, and five tiles, and the tracker is at
27 Sprites / 162 entries. Epic does not say
whether it drops outside the Power Hours windows. HYPEX's cake-chance and heal numbers are
still his alone, in the notes below.
September 24: Morgana is live, a day before the Persona drop
Today's hotfix switched the Morgana Sprite on, with every tier. @HYPEX
at 13:40 UTC (permalink):
"Morgana Sprite is out now → It boosts your healing items' effectiveness". @SaltyBoii03
(Dark Silverwind) at 17:13 UTC
(permalink): "The Bounty
Hunter Sprites & Morgana Sprite have all been enabled today!" Two named sources, and players
are posting their own finds from Base to Bounty Hunter;
@Hamza_ALR_ lists all five tiers at 17:29 UTC
(permalink). So
Morgana is on the tracker with the game's own ability text,
Epic rarity from the files, and five tiles, and the tracker is at
27 Sprites / 162 entries. The notes below
that keep Morgana in the datamined list were right until this morning. HYPEX's level numbers
(healing +15/30/50/75/100%, "at level 5 it doubles it") are still his alone.
September 21: the Birthday event is on, the Sprite is still the 26th, and Persona has a date from one source
Fortnite's 9th Birthday event went live this morning and runs to October 1:
@ShiinaBR at 04:06 UTC
(permalink) and
@HYPEX at 04:13 UTC
(permalink), who lists
what is in it: Birthday Bus, loot, cakes, XP, quest rewards, "Free Spray from a hidden Lobby
Hack", and "Birthday Sprite arrives September 26". That is Epic's date from the patch notes,
unchanged, so Birthday stays in the datamined list until Saturday. The
hidden code for the spray is the one FireMonkey called "earnable VIA a Lobby Hack Cheat Code"
on the 16th; the morning sweep found nobody had posted it. By 13:47 UTC it was out, credited
to @OMGitsAliA, and HYPEX and Shiina carried it with the reward within the hour:
9YEARS, on the
Cheat codes page with a second code from the
same afternoon, AlmostScaringSeason, whose in-game text says Fortnitemares "begins in 10
days".
Both also say October 1 is when Fortnitemares starts (HYPEX again at 04:21 UTC, permalink), which makes that date two-source; further down this page it had been HYPEX's alone since August 22.
Persona, one source. @HYPEX on September 18 at 17:31 UTC
(permalink): "PERSONA x
FORTNITE DROPS AROUND SEPT 25", with "Morgana Sidekick, Sprite & Kicks" in the list. Nobody
else has dated the collab, so Morgana stays in the datamined list with that
"around" on its note rather than a date. The Persona teaser three accounts posted for the 25th
all trace to @ScrambledFaz, one origin, and a teaser is not a release. HYPEX also
folds "Match Override that siphons 10% damage dealt" into the same drop; Epic dated Health
Siphon to the 24th in its own notes, and Epic outranks.
Updated September 22: Persona 5 Royal is dated by Epic's own in-game
text. The in-game News Feed now reads "The Phantom
Thieves Arrive. On September 25, a Change of Heart is coming." @FireMonkey posted
it at 00:06 UTC
(permalink),
@FN_Assist at 00:08 and @Replugs2 at 00:13, the latter two calling it
a News Feed teaser. @Fortnite's own post from the 20th
(permalink) says
"The Phantom Thieves of Hearts are coming" and names no day, so the date is Epic's words
carried by three named accounts rather than Epic's account. What has not changed: HYPEX is
still the only one to put the Morgana Sprite in that drop, so Morgana stays in the
datamined list, with September 25 as the collab's date and the Sprite's as one source.
v42.20 is live — three Sprites on the tracker, one dated, one vaulted
Downtime was 4 AM ET on September 17 and Epic's own notes
(v42.20 Battle Royale Update Notes) name four new
Sprites, not five: "Pond Sprite, Crash Bandicoot Sprite, Blinky Sprite, Birthday Sprite
(available starting Saturday, September 26)". So Pond, Crash Bandicoot and
Blinky are on the tracker now with Epic's ability text and all four
tiers, and the tracker is at 27 Sprites / 162
entries. Birthday stays in the datamined list below until the 26th,
with Epic's date on it. Morgana is not in Epic's list at all: it is in the PC
build with finished art, @FireMonkey read it as vaulted at 11:24 UTC
(permalink), and the
Persona collab it belongs to is on @ShiinaBR's encrypted list
(permalink). It sits in the
datamined list too; the only date anyone has put on it is HYPEX's "around Sept 25" from
the 18th, one source, in the note above.
Self-mined the same morning, from the PC build. Rarity from the game's own definitions: Pond Epic, Blinky Legendary, Crash Legendary, Birthday Rare, Morgana Epic. Pond is Dex #40, the gap this page noted on September 13. And one existing row moved: Overshield reads Epic now where the September 13 export read Rare, and its tile frame went from blue to purple in the same patch — Epic changed it, the old row was right about the old build. Two more things the files show that nobody has posted: Mega Man gained Gold, Cheat Master and Loot Hacker definitions whose textures are black silhouettes (unfinished, so he stays at one tile), and a lone Cheat Master Dumpster Dive definition exists with finished art and no base tier — its picture is on the Design-a-Sprite card below.
A fifth tier, and Crown's is out early. Epic's notes date Bounty
Hunter variants to September 24; @FortniteStatus granted the Crown one on
patch day. The files hold all twenty. The mechanic, the permalinks and what the tracker does
with it are under
Bounty Hunter on the Guides page, with the
Cheat Code rarity change and the patch-day bug
next to it. The six Match Overrides are on the
Override page under Epic's names, two more
dated to the 24th, and the two Lobby Hack codes anyone has posted are on the
Cheat codes page.
Mastery. "Part 3 & 4 of Sprite Mastery is out now" per FireMonkey at 13:17
UTC
(permalink). The skin at
the end is the Pixel Polli Outfit — Epic's notes name it, FireMonkey puts it at
"mastering 28 Sprites"
(permalink, 08:03 UTC)
and @HYPEX shows it as "FREE SKIN - EARNED FROM MASTERY REWARDS"
(permalink, 08:22 UTC). The
28 is FireMonkey's twice over and nobody else's; Epic gives no number, but does say "an even
more pixelated Style" arrives "in a future update this Season when mastering 70 Sprites". The
Pixel Sprite Trainer Back Bling at "Extract 30 Sprites" is now Epic's own line too, so that
single-source note from the 16th is verified.
Still in the files: nine planned Sprites, two sources on six
@HYPEX posted two lists the night before the patch — "UNRELEASED FORTNITE ORIGINAL
SPRITES"
(permalink, 21:43 UTC) and
"UNRELEASED FORTNITE COLLAB SPRITES"
(permalink, 21:16 UTC) — and
@FireMonkey posted "Upcoming Sprite Abilities" four hours later
(permalink, 01:31 UTC).
Where both give the same ability it is verified text for a sprite that is not built, which is
the datamined tier without the art. None has a rarity or a date; Dumpster Dive has FireMonkey's
v42.30 from the 16th.
- Adam Smasher — HYPEX: "periodically launch rockets while shooting"; FireMonkey: "Shooting Launches a Rocket every x Seconds". Two sources.
- Squibbly — HYPEX: "Diving into a fishing hole spawns its loot"; FireMonkey: "Diving into a Fishing Hole fishes it". Two sources, and the first ability text after a month as a name.
- Dumpster Dive — HYPEX has the long version: food from barrels, cardboard boxes, mailboxes, safes, shopping carts, garbage containers, food boxes, coolers, ammo and medical boxes; "Eating food also grants 10 bonus hp/shield"; drops improve with level to "an Exotic Apple at Lvl4 & Golden Mushroom at Lvl5"; hiding-prop food "also planned". FireMonkey's line is still "[Ability not implemented] Find food when jumping into a hideable prop". Two sources on the idea, one on the numbers.
- Vampire — HYPEX: "Dealt damage comes back as siphon, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% per level"; FireMonkey: "Restore White Health Based on Damage Dealt - Scale % increases with level". Two sources.
- Cube — both: low gravity. Two sources.
- Meowscles — both: faster weapon swap. Two sources, first text after a month.
- Phase Dash (League of Legends), Sonic Ring ("Spawn Rings when Shield is destroyed") and Overdrive Reload ("Grants Overdrive On Reload!") — FireMonkey alone.
- Witcher — HYPEX: "Unknown". Rebecca and Arasaka — "Unknown" from HYPEX, and FireMonkey's "encrypted or unfinished" from the 16th still stands.
HYPEX's numbers changed between September 4 and 16, which is why they are not on the tracker. Pond went from "charges 2/2/2/3/3, delay 13/10/10/7/7" to "Holds up to 3 super jump charges, recharges one every 20/18/16/14/12 seconds"; Birthday's cake chance from 35/40/45/50/100% to 50/60/70/80/100%. Both sets are his, both are quoted, and the game's own text says only "increases with each Level Up". His per-level numbers for the three that shipped — Blinky cloak 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 seconds, Crash whirlwind 5–10 damage, Morgana healing +15/30/50/75/100% — are one source too and sit here, not in the level notes.
Two small ones. @FNBRintel: the FNAF POI "will be updated to
include Fortnite's new birthday cake inside next week"
(permalink, 14:30 UTC),
which lines up with Epic's September 26 for the Birthday Sprite. And a FNAF Lobby Hack teaser:
HYPEX says a code "set to be announced before October 1" will "play a 'Jumpscare Teaser' video
when the screen turns black", via @unrealhybrid
(permalink, 09:00 UTC) — a code nobody
has, for a video. Here for completeness; it goes on the codes page if it ever redeems. It
did, on September 29: PowerOut.
The day before: five Sprites read off the Xbox build
Epic pushed the v42.20 build to Xbox a day early on September 16. @FireMonkey
noted it at 15:16 UTC
(permalink),
and within the hour @FortniteStatus was fixing an Xbox login issue where "you
may be prompted to redownload the game"
15:43 UTC). That build is where everything in this section comes from: a read of the patch
itself rather than of a plan. It also means one source for most of it, because FireMonkey is
the one reading it.
Five Sprites ship with the patch. @HYPEX ("NEW FORTNITE SPRITES
COMING TOMORROW",
permalink,
15:21 UTC), @ShiinaBR (Morgana and Crash at
15:09,
Pac-Man and Birthday at
15:17,
in-game images for all four at
16:57)
and FireMonkey
(permalink,
15:20 UTC) post the same set, so the set is verified. The ability text is FireMonkey's alone,
from the build, and is quoted as posted:
- Pond — "(Active) - Jump shortly after landing to trigger a Super Jump, if charges are present. Gain charges over time. Super jump strength increases and cooldown decreases with each Level Up!" (permalink, 16:51 UTC). This is the second source for the Pond block further down this page: HYPEX's September 4 numbers describe the same ability. Shipped on the 17th; on the tracker.
- Birthday — "Opening chests has a chance to spawn a piece of cake. Eliminations can spawn cake at max level. Chance to spawn cake increases with each Level Up!" (permalink, 16:18 UTC). The second source for HYPEX's September 4 block too, and it answers his "idk how/when": chests, and eliminations at max level. Epic has since dated it to September 26; datamined list, with the art.
- Morgana (Persona 5) — "Increases the effectiveness of healing items. Healing effectiveness increases with each Level Up!" (permalink, 16:19 UTC).
- Blinky (Pac-Man) — "Grants cloak for a duration when you take damage. Cloak duration increases with each Level Up!" (permalink, 16:19 UTC).
- Crash Bandicoot — "(Active - Jump In Air) Triggers a whirlwind attack, damaging and knocking back nearby enemies. Damage increases and cooldown decreases with each Level Up!", and it "was originally called the Body Slam Sprite" (permalink, 16:18 UTC). Crash has been a name only on this page since September 4; it now has ability text from one source.
All five "have variant support", in FireMonkey's words, and the files bore that out the next morning with five tiers each. What happened next is at the top of this page: Blinky and Crash shipped, Morgana did not, and the rarities came from the files rather than from anyone's post.
Dumpster Dive is not in this patch. FireMonkey: "set to be added in v42.30 (Not this update but the next one)", with the text "[Ability not implemented] Find food when jumping into a hideable prop - Food grants bonus healing" (permalink, 16:50 UTC). One source. Honey, the last Design-a-Sprite winner, has no date from anyone.
Six new Loot Hacks, two sources. @ShiinaBR on September 15
(permalink,
17:02 UTC) and @HYPEX in his update rundown the next morning
(permalink,
13:39 UTC) list the same six: Rocket Ram, Reaper Sniper Rifle, Mammoth Pistol, Hyperburst
Pistol, Deadeye DMR and Flowberry Fizz. Six new Match Overrides come with the same build, and
one Lobby Hack already redeems. Those are on the
Override and
Cheat codes
pages, with their sourcing.
Holofoil and Gummy are off again, and FireMonkey said so himself
At 00:08 UTC on September 16 FireMonkey wrote that "unless plans have changed" the next update "should bring back the Gummy and Holofoil Sprites (Gummy returns first, then Holofoil the week after)", with Reaper and Trick or Treat as "the final two variants this season" in v42.30 (permalink), and clarified four minutes later that this meant "the variants returning for the new sprites, not the old sprites returning" (permalink). Fifteen hours later, reading the build: "It seems Holofoil/Gummy Sprites returning has been scrapped, instead the Bounty Hunter Sprite (Reaper) Variant is prepared for the next update!", with the Reaper text "Chance to find sprites when eliminating opponents. Only gains sprite XP from eliminations, unless sprite has special XP rules." (permalink, 15:46 UTC). Both posts are his; the later one reads the files and the earlier one read a plan, so the later one stands. The Holofoil Jackrabbit found here on September 13 is unaffected either way: it exists in the files and nobody can get it, which is what it was.
Same source, same hour: three "Superlevel" variant names — Decrypted, Override and Mainframe (permalink, 16:15 UTC) — with nothing on what a Superlevel is. One source, and a name each.
Sprite Mastery goes to 28, with a free skin at the end
FireMonkey's read of the v42.20 mastery track (permalink, 16:48 UTC), as posted: 15 Sprites, 5,000 Sprite Dust · 16, "Nothing!" · 17, 40,000 XP · 18, 5 Spicy Tacos · 19, 3 Extraction Accelerators · 20, 40,000 XP · 22, 3 Extraction Accelerators · 23, 40,000 XP · 24, 2 Portable Extractors · 25, 2 Llama Supply Drops · 26, 5,000 Sprite Dust · 27, 40,000 XP · 28, an encrypted skin. His list has no 21. The skin's codename is "Retro Blade" in his 15:41 post and "Radicali" in the 16:48 one; both are quoted and neither is explained.
More from the same build, one source each. The Pixel Sprite Trainer Back Bling unlocks "VIA Extracting 30 Sprites" and "supports all sprites and sprite variants" (permalink, 16:04 UTC) — the first stated unlock condition for it. A Lobby Hack reward exists for a Cheat Master Pond Sprite: "If you've already collected this Sprite, you will receive 10,000 Sprite Dust instead" (permalink, 16:00 UTC), no code posted. FireMonkey counts "11 New Lobby Hack Codes" in the patch (permalink, 15:45 UTC); HYPEX names one, DestinyAwaits for Kingdom Hearts (permalink, 13:39 UTC), alone, so it sits here and not on the Cheat codes page. The 9th Birthday Sprite Spray is "earnable VIA a Lobby Hack Cheat Code" (permalink, 15:38 UTC), code unposted. And four sets of "Sprite Spree (Polaris)" quests are in the files as placeholders "that need to be hotfixed" (permalink, 16:32 UTC).
Epic has named the next patch: v42.20
On September 10 @FortniteStatus wrote, about a Creative memory bug: "We’re
rolling back the change that caused this increase in v42.20 to help prevent
publishing issues for islands near their memory limits."
17:05 UTC). It is an aside in a bug notice rather than an announcement, and it is still
Epic’s own account putting a version number in writing.
That matters here for one reason: it retires the naming argument further down this page. Two dataminers spent early September calling this cycle v41-something. Epic has now written v42.20 itself, which settles it the same way its "42.10" post did in August. Epic has still not given v42.20 a date. The September 17 date on this page is FireMonkey’s and HYPEX’s, not Epic’s.
What the patch is called, and the calendar after it
Epic called it 42.10 — "a few more things coming in the 42.10 patch next
Thursday", August 28. Both dataminers have since called the same patch
v41.10: @FireMonkey on August 31
(permalink) and @ShiinaBR on September 1
(permalink). This page keeps 42.10, because Epic's
own account outranks a datamine, and because Shiina contradicted himself twelve minutes
earlier: his LEGO Batman post puts the Batman villager in v42.30 on
October 1 (permalink), the same date his schedule
calls v41.30. The dates line up across both posts; only the major version moves. FireMonkey
made the same slip earlier in the season, writing v41.20 before correcting to v42.10 — noted
under Earlier this season, below.
The dates are the useful part, and they are the first forward calendar this season has had:
- September 3 — the patch described above.
- September 17
- October 1 — already carries Fortnitemares, which HYPEX dated on August 22 and which is covered further down this page.
- October 15
Shiina's own wording is "upcoming update schedule again confirmed", which is his confidence rather than Epic's. No Epic post names any date past September 3.
Updated September 13: the calendar now runs to January, and it has an end date on
it. @HYPEX posted a fuller schedule on September 10
(permalink,
20:41 UTC) — September 17, then October 1 and October 15, both carrying Fortnitemares; a
mini season on November 1 and November 12; and
Chapter 8 Season 1 opening December 5, with December 17 for Winterfest and
January 7 after it.
The December 5 date is the one with two sources. @ShiinaBR posted "CHAPTER 8
CONFIRMED FOR DECEMBER 5" at 20:32 UTC
(permalink)
and HYPEX posted it six minutes later crediting him
(permalink).
That credit line is the point: on this one HYPEX is a repost, not a second source. Shiina
also writes "confirmed" without saying by whom, and Epic has named no date past September 3.
Treat December 5 as the strongest date on this list and still a leaker's.
If it holds, this season — and sprite collecting with it — has about twelve weeks left.
Confirmed by Epic: a Sprite Mastery Back Bling
Epic's own August 26 patch article confirms it directly: "In a future update, we'll have a new collection-maxxing Mastery Back Bling landing alongside a mastery questline and Mastery Mondays!" Dataminer HYPEX had already found this in the files ahead of the announcement — nicknamed "Pixel Sprite Trainer," shaped like a retro handheld console that displays the sprites you've mastered — matching Epic's own description of a Back Bling built to show off mastered Sprites.
A specific date, and it is no longer one
source. @FireMonkey posted on
September 4: "Reminder: The Pixel Sprite Trainer Back Bling will be added in the v42.20
update on September 17th!"
13:08 UTC). @HYPEX posted it three minutes earlier
(permalink,
13:11 UTC) and @ShiinaBR half an hour after
(permalink,
13:43 UTC), both for "next update".
What changed on September 13: this page used to say the v42.20 label was FireMonkey's word alone. Epic has since written v42.20 itself — see the top of this page — so the patch is real and the back bling is dated to it by three named leakers. The September 17 part is still theirs: Epic has attached no date to v42.20.
Confirmed by Epic, coming mid-season
Five new sprites from Epic's "Design-a-Sprite" community contest (20,000+ submissions), set to roll into the loot pool progressively during mid-season updates. No rarity or ability text has been disclosed for any of them. Two of the five have now shipped: X-Ray and Onigiri arrived in v42.10 on September 3 and have left the list below — see "v42.10 is live" under Earlier this season. Pond made three on September 17, in v42.20. Of the last two, Dumpster Dive is dated to v42.30 by one source and has a single Cheat Master definition in the files, which is the picture on its card; Honey has no date from anyone.
All five are out now. Dumpster Dive shipped on October 1 and Honey on October 15, so the list that stood here is empty.
Correction, August 31: Enorull's winning entry is no longer
Bullet. @FireMonkey reports that Epic swapped it for their
Onigiri Sprite, guessing the reason is "modes like LEGO Fortnite" — his
speculation, not something Epic has said. @HYPEX names the same pair nine seconds
later without offering a reason. Two named dataminers agreeing is why this replaces Bullet in
the list below rather than sitting beside it.
Pond and Birthday: the September 4 stat blocks, and the source that matched them
What changed since: FireMonkey's read of the v42.20 build gave both blocks a second source on September 16, Pond shipped on the 17th and Birthday is Epic-dated to the 26th. HYPEX then revised his own numbers on the 16th — see the top of this page. The text below is kept as written on September 13, because it is what the revision is measured against.
@HYPEX posted numbers for two unreleased sprites late on September 4. Nobody has
corroborated either, so neither is on the tracker and neither is in the datamined-sprite list,
where ability text has to be verified. They are here, with the numbers as posted, because the
detail is specific enough to check against the game when they ship.
Pond — one of the Design-a-Sprite winners still unshipped, by Pine & Kiri (permalink, 23:52 UTC). Grants Super Jump and strengthens with level: charges 2/2/2/3/3, charge delay 13/10/10/7/7 seconds, a landing shockwave doing 9/11/15/17/20 to players and 5/5/10/10/15 to builds, and the shockwave launches players away.
@FGMuffins replied to it claiming the find was hers and that HYPEX did not
get it from the files as implied. That is an argument about attribution, not about whether the
numbers are right — but it does mean HYPEX may not be an independent finder here, which is
precisely what the two-source rule is meant to establish. Treat Pond as one source until a
second one posts the same figures.
Birthday — a sprite this site has not listed anywhere before (permalink, 23:40 UTC). HYPEX hedges twice in his own words, and it is quoted as posted: "Its somehow heals for 20 HP & Shield", "It affects teammates too (maybe healing?)", and it "Spawns 1 cake, idk how/when" at per-level chances of 35%, 40%, 45%, 50% and 100%. A sprite that heals teammates would be the first of its kind this season, which is reason to want a second source rather than reason to believe it faster.
Two codes with one source each
Both are Lobby Hack codes, and neither made it onto the Cheat codes page, which only carries codes two named sources have posted. One leaker each is not enough for that table. They are here instead. DustInTheWind used to be here too; it moved to the Cheat codes page once three code lists agreed on its reward.
- WhereIsTheDustyTree — "FREE 5,000 SPRITE DUST FOR EVERYONE", per
@ShiinaBRon September 5 (permalink, 14:55 UTC). Eight days old at the time of writing. Dust codes on this site have tended to expire, so expect this one to be dead and be pleased if it is not. - MagicIsReal — the code at the end of a ten-step Bastian story quest in the
v42.20 build, "No Variant reward this time, just Sprite Gadgets", per
@FireMonkeyon September 16 (permalink, 17:42 UTC). Quest-gated like YourThoughtsAreMine, so expect it to refuse until step 10 is done. One source, and what "Sprite Gadgets" means in numbers is not stated.
Named in datamines, no details yet
Leakers FNBRIntel and Krowe have separately named two more sprites sitting in the Season 4 files — Meowscles and Squibbly — but no ability text, rarity, or release date has surfaced for either. Overshield left this list on September 3: it shipped in v42.10 with Epic's own ability text — see “Epic's own patch notes” under Earlier this season, below.
Three more names, September 4. @ShiinaBR reports
Witcher and Crash Bandicoot sprites "in the works", with
Squibbly "mentioned in the same file"
19:42 UTC). A name in a file is all this is: no ability text, no rarity, no date, one source.
Squibbly was named by three separate leakers across three weeks before anyone posted what it
does, which is a fair illustration of how little a name is worth on its own.
Crash Bandicoot left this tier on September 16 and shipped on the 17th.
Squibbly and Meowscles left it on September 17, with ability text from two
sources — see "Still in the files" at the top of this page. Witcher, Rebecca and Arasaka are
the names that remain. Pumpkin joined them on September 28, with a picture
and nothing else — see "Vampire and Pumpkin" at the top of this page.
Three more names, September 16, with a hedge. Reading the v42.20 build,
@FireMonkey names three Cyberpunk sprites: Adam Smasher, with
variant support, codenamed "Super Hot", and dropped by the Adam Smasher boss NPC when
eliminated; Rebecca and Arasaka, both without variant support
(17:22 UTC,
17:25,
17:29). His own
caveat, quoted: the sprites "are either encrypted or unfinished and will either be added in
v42.30 or scrapped." No ability text, no rarity, one source.
Variant types found in files, not live yet
Base, Gold, Cheat Master and — since September 10 — Loot Hacker are live in-game this season. Dataminer FNBRIntel found six more variant types carrying over from Chapter 7 Season 3 still sitting in the files, unused: Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, Cube, and Quack. A separate, newer datamine of the Season 4 files specifically names a different batch — Candy, Hacker, Reaper, and TrickTreat (Holofoil shows up in both) — with TrickTreat suspected to tie into the Fortnitemares Halloween event in October. Reaper left this list on September 17: it is the Bounty Hunter tier, which Epic switched on for every sprite but Mega Man on September 24 (Crown's came a week early) — see the Guides page. The rest exist and are dormant; nothing confirms which sprites get them or when. TrickTreat left on October 8, when Trick or Treat reached every sprite but Mega Man. Quack left on October 15: it is the final Sprite Mastery page's tier, on five sprites (see the top of this page).
Update, per HYPEX (August 22): Fortnitemares is confirmed to begin October 1, with Ghostface's Knife, Witch Broom, Chainsaw, Wood Stake Shotgun, and Dual Fiend Hunters confirmed as Loot Hack boost items for the event. That gives the TrickTreat/Halloween connection above a real date and real items behind it, verified directly against HYPEX's account rather than secondhand.
Holofoil is real, and only Jackrabbit has it
This one is ours. Not a leaker, not a repost — I pulled it out of the game files myself on
September 13 with FModel, from
SpriteLibrary_Ch7S4/Content/SpriteDefinitions. Anyone with FModel and the current
build can check it in about five minutes, which is the point.
Holofoil appears in the list above as one of the dormant variant types found in two separate
datamines. It is no longer only a name: there is finished art for it, and the tile labels
itself "Holofoil Jackrabbit Sprite" — a sleeping pillow version, stars and
all. One file, in one sprite's folder:
ESD_DoubleJumpSprite_Variant_Holofoil.
No other sprite has one. All sixteen have Base, Gold and Cheat Master, fifteen have Loot Hacker, and exactly one has Holofoil. Epic has not announced it, it is not live, and no leaker in this sweep has mentioned it.
It is deliberately not on the tracker. A fifth tier changes the denominator of every collection on this site — that is what happened on September 10 when Loot Hacker went from two sprites to sixteen and the tracker went from 50 entries to 64. Loot Hacker earned it by existing for everyone. Holofoil exists for one sprite and is not obtainable by anyone. It goes on the tracker the day it is live, and not before.
The same extraction turned up a second thing worth writing down: the sprites carry a Dex number, and #40 is missing. Overshield is #39, X-Ray is #41, and nothing in the Season 4 sprite folder is #40. That is either a sprite that has not shipped yet or one that lives somewhere else in the files. It is a gap, not a discovery — but it is the kind of gap that usually gets filled by a patch.
Mega Man has no variants at all, and that looks deliberate
Same self-mined export as above, September 13. Every sprite's folder holds one definition per variant — a JSON, a spawn blueprint and a texture for Base, Gold, Cheat Master and Loot Hacker. Overshield, which shipped in the same patch on September 3, has the complete set.
Mega Man has one: ESD_ImprovedSlideSprite_Variant_A. No Gold, no
Cheat Master, no Loot Hacker — and not just missing art. The definitions and the spawn
blueprints do not exist either. Giuseppe checked in-game the same day: only one Mega Man tile
shows up.
That contradicts the blanket claim this site acted on when FireMonkey said on September 10 that the Loot Hacker variant "exists for all currently released Sprites". It does not exist for Mega Man. We had flagged him at the time as the one row resting on a blanket claim with no player sighting behind it, and that is exactly the row that turned out to be wrong.
So the tracker dropped from 64 entries to 61. Your percentage went up, and nothing about your collection changed — three tiles that nobody could obtain are no longer counted against you. If Epic adds the variants later, the tiles come back, and any you had already ticked are still ticked.
Worth saying plainly: this may be a licensing thing rather than an oversight. Sonic, Tails and Shadow are licensed too and have all four, so it is not a rule about collabs — but each deal is its own deal, and a recoloured Mega Man is the kind of thing a licensor says no to. That is a guess. The missing definitions are not.
Epic is asking whether Sprites should stay
A batch of in-game surveys went live overnight on September 1, found independently by
@ShiinaBR at 02:39 UTC
(permalink) and @FireMonkey across
three posts from 02:30 UTC
(one, two, three). This is not a leak about content. It is a
leak about whether the mechanic this whole site tracks has a future.
- How much is too much. Rate the current amount of Sprite Types, Sprites, Sprite Dust, Cheat Codes, Override Consoles, different types of Overrides, POIs and Chests — from "way too little" to "way too much".
- Whether Sprites belong in Battle Royale at all. "I prefer Fortnite Battle Royale without Sprites" and "I prefer Fortnite Battle Royale with Sprites" are put as two separate statements to agree or disagree with, alongside "Sprite powers make my matches less fair" and the same question asked about Overrides.
- The collection reset. Six statements about last season's collection starting over — whether players understood in advance that it would, whether they had enough time before it did, and whether they miss playing with what they collected.
There is also a "how cute is this Sprite" question covering 37 named Sprites across both seasons, from 8-Bit and Bush through to Zero Point, Ironmouse and Storm Scout.
What this does not say. A survey is Epic asking, not Epic deciding, and nothing here announces a change. But the questions are unusually direct for a mechanic one season old, and the reset block in particular reads more like a post-mortem than a temperature check.
Earlier this season
Leaks that have already resolved — what shipped, what did not, and where the calls on this page were wrong. Kept rather than deleted, because a tracker that quietly removes its misses is not one you can judge. Newest first.
v42.10 is live — what actually landed
Epic's own @FortniteStatus announced downtime for v42.10 at
4 AM ET, "bringing all new Battle Royale gameplay, OG Season X and a ton of fixes and
improvements"
2026-09-02 21:52 UTC). Servers came back on September 3. Everything below
was posted by named dataminers reading the live build in the hour after it returned, between
08:03 and 08:40 UTC. Epic has not published patch notes itemising any of it yet, so the
sourcing named on each line is what it rests on.
The Loot Hacks that shipped are not the ones that leaked
@FNBRintel and @ShiinaBR list the same five independently, twenty-five
minutes apart — Deadeye Assault Rifle, Caduceus Staff,
Wrecker Revolver, Scorpion's Kombat Kit and
Holo Twister Rifle
(FNBRintel, 08:29 UTC,
ShiinaBR, 08:04 UTC).
@FireMonkey posted a list under the same heading at 08:26 UTC
(permalink)
as an image, which this page cannot quote.
A fourth variant tier: Loot Hacker
Sprites have had three tiers all season — Base, Gold, Cheat Master. v42.10 adds a fourth.
@FNBRintel at 08:16 UTC: "New 'Loot Hacker' Variants for sprites has been added!"
@FireMonkey ten minutes later, independently, with the unlock route: "If you've
already mastered the Gold Crown Sprite, you have the Loot Hacker Sprite available now!"
08:26 UTC). Two named sources, so the tier is real.
Updated September 13: the tracker now shows four tiers on every released sprite. This paragraph used to say it deliberately showed three, because a fourth changes every sprite's row and every collection saved against it. That held until September 10, when Epic enabled the variant across the board — FireMonkey, 13:32 UTC: "Loot Hacker Sprites have all been enabled … the variant exists for all currently released Sprites" (permalink). The tracker went from 50 trackable entries to 64, and to 61 on September 13 when Mega Man was cut to base only. There is now extracted art for every tracked tile, and none for the tier, so those tiles render as placeholders rather than being hidden. FireMonkey also names three specific ones — Loot Hacker Jonesy and Loot Hacker Adventure, alongside a Cheat Master Onigiri, all with Lobby Hack codes to come (permalink). He does not print the codes, and neither does this page.
Four new Sprites, none of them on the tracker yet
Epic's update teaser named three — X-Ray, Onigiri and
Knight — carried by @ShiinaBR ten hours before downtime
(permalink).
X-Ray and Onigiri are the first two Design-a-Sprite community winners to ship, which is why
they have left the "coming mid-season" list above. A fourth arrived that the teaser did not
name: a Mega Man Sprite, posted independently by @HYPEX, by
@ShiinaBR crediting @NotPaloIntel
08:03 UTC), and by @FireMonkey, who reports Mega Man shop assets added in the
same update
(permalink).
Update: all four are on the tracker now, with Epic's own ability text — see "Real ability text for all four new Sprites" below. Rarity is still unpublished by anyone, so they carry an honest Unrated tag rather than a guessed one, and show a placeholder tile in place of art that doesn't exist yet. Nothing here is fabricated — see the tracker for what that actually looks like.
Sprite Mastery is back, and one variant has an effect
- Sprite Mastery has returned —
@FireMonkey, 08:21 UTC (permalink). His post continues "'Par' will be available in" and stops there against an image, so what Par is stays unquotable here. - The Trick or Treat variant gives a chance at Candy from containers — it "will give you a chance to find Candy when opening containers", FireMonkey at 08:16 UTC (permalink). Trick or Treat was one of five variants FNBRintel named on August 20 with no effects attached; this is the first of those five to get one. Single source, so it is his word.
- A Hacker Sprite variant was added — FireMonkey, 08:10 UTC (permalink). Also on that August 20 list. No effect text posted. Single source.
- Known bug: "The Holofoil Jackrabbit Sprite icon is currently the Dreamer Sprite icon" — FireMonkey, 08:11 UTC (permalink). Cosmetic, and Epic has not acknowledged it.
Overrides: three named, five claimed
Epic's teaser promised "5x Match Overrides (Big Head, Prop Hunt, and more)". Shiina's own teaser ten hours before downtime names a third, Action Hero (permalink). That leaves two of the five unnamed, and no effect text has been posted for any of the three. The Override features table still lists twelve, because a row there carries an effect and a scope and these three have neither yet.
Unverified: one new Lobby Cheat
@FireMonkey posted "New Lobby Cheat: INVALIDCHEAT" at 08:40 UTC
(permalink).
One named source, uncorroborated at time of writing, and no reward stated. It sits on the
Cheat codes page
marked unverified rather than in the main table.
Epic's own patch notes, posted after the fact
A few hours after servers came back, @FortniteStatus linked Epic's own patch notes
(communities.epicgames.com).
That outranks every leaker source in the section above, and it settles several things this page
was still hedging on this morning.
Real ability text for all four new Sprites
Epic's own words, not a leak: X-Ray — "Periodically mark enemies in an area around you." Onigiri — "Applies Overdrive after eating or drinking a consumable item." Mega Man — "Slip and slide around with reduced friction" (ShiinaBR had this almost verbatim eight hours earlier, adding "while Sliding" — Epic's wording is quoted above). A fourth Sprite shipped that no leaker in the section above named for this patch: Overshield — "Grants Overshield, scaling with Sprite Level." FNBRintel named it as upcoming back on August 20 with no details; it now has both a date and an effect.
On the tracker now, Unrated. Epic's text closes the ability-text gap, but no rarity was ever stated — not by Epic, not by any leaker. Rather than guess, all four carry the new Unrated tag on the tracker, with a placeholder tile standing in for art that doesn't exist yet. Real art replaces the placeholder, and a real rarity replaces Unrated, only once either is actually known.
What "refreshed" actually meant for Sprite Dust
Yesterday's write-up on this page was an inference, and said so. Epic's patch notes replace it with their own sentence: dust spent on Loot Hacks "can be freely reset and respecc'd in each set, but does not transfer to the next Loot Hack refresh." Read plainly, that confirms the shape of the community concern this page held open two days ago — dust committed to the old Loot Hack lineup doesn't carry into today's new one. It does not confirm the sharper version of the claim ("consumed unless you reset before the update") as literally worded, since Epic's sentence describes the refresh boundary, not a countdown timer. Close enough to the original concern that finishing a Loot Hack before downtime was the right advice regardless of which reading turned out correct.
Two more Sprite Dust changes in the same notes, neither raised by any leaker: mastering a Sprite now halves the Dust cost to resummon it, and a new Sprite Mastery Track grants "rewards and Gizmos for mastering Sprites."
Loot Hacks: a rarity cap change
Epic's notes confirm the five items above and add one mechanic nobody had leaked: "Players now hack in Rare to Legendary loot, rather than Epic to Mythic." The five items themselves match what ShiinaBR and FNBRintel already had; Epic's own transcription spells the Mortal Kombat item "Scorpion's Combat Kit," where every leaker wrote "Kombat Kit" — likely their own stylization of the in-game name, not a factual disagreement, and not worth guessing which is the exact in-game string without seeing it firsthand.
Match Overrides: real effect text, and a fourth confirmed for next week
Epic's own effect text for the three that went live today: Big Head Mode — "Everyone has a big head." Prop Hunt — "Crouch and don't move for several seconds to turn into a prop." Action Hero — "While mid-air, enter Hangtime when aiming weapons and deal increased damage." And Sharpshooter, "coming next Thursday" per Epic directly — "Increases weapon accuracy, reduces recoil and bloom."
@HYPEX separately listed two more for the same date — Storm Override
and Hunter Scavenger
(permalink) —
that Epic's notes don't mention yet. Single source, so they stay off the
Override features
table until Epic names them or a second leaker corroborates.
Four Sprite bugs, fixed at launch — per Epic
- Mastering the Crown Sprite now correctly grants its Cheat Master variant.
- Storm Scout's Overdrive no longer lasts longer than intended.
- Tails no longer leaves a persistent pulsing effect on your back.
- The Sprite Summon button no longer stays disabled after returning to Battle Royale from Reload.
@FortniteStatus confirmed and fixed the leveling bug a couple of hours later —
"we've fixed an issue where extracted Sprites would remain at Lvl 1"
The Loot Hack dust bug is
still FireMonkey's alone, unconfirmed by Epic as of this sweep.
This is a distinct claim from the reset question above — a same-day bug Epic is
actively fixing, not the community theory about dust being wiped by design. Don't conflate the
two if this comes up again.
Two new Lobby Hacks
- YourThoughtsAreMine — grants the Void Master Geno variant plus 5,000 Sprite
Dust, unlocked after completing the Geno Story Quests. Two independent named sources:
@HYPEX(permalink) and@FireMonkey(permalink), independently. See Cheat codes. - INVALIDCHEAT — its existence had one source this morning; HYPEX now gives the reward, 2x Cheat Code Locators (permalink). Two named sources on the code, one on the reward, so it's added to the table with the reward attributed to him specifically.
- ChatWhereDoYouFindTheKey — HYPEX only, reward stated as 2x Extraction Accelerators. Single source, held as unverified.
What was leaked for September 3, before it shipped
The patch has since landed — see “v42.10 is live” at the top of this section for what actually arrived, including where the list below turned out to be wrong. This section is kept as the pre-patch record rather than corrected in place, because what the leaks said three days out is the point of it.
Epic named the patch and the week. The contents below come from the dataminers, posted
August 31: @HYPEX at 16:37 UTC
(permalink)
and @FireMonkey at 16:22 UTC
(permalink).
Treat it as a leak, not as Epic's word. September 3 is a crowded date — Fortnite
OG: Season X starts the same day, and so does the LEGO Batman event. Neither is on this
list; what follows is the Battle Royale patch only.
- Two new Match Overrides — Big Heads and Prop Hunt. FireMonkey counts five new Overrides in total, HYPEX names these two.
- One new Fortnite Original Sprite, unnamed so far.
- Two community Sprites — X-Ray by Avila215 and Onigiri by Enorull, the first two of the five Design-a-Sprite winners to ship.
- Loot Hacks refreshed — Rocket Ram, Gold Banana, Tracking Visor, Holo Twister, Deadeye AR, and a sixth that changed while this was being written.
That sixth Loot Hack moved the same evening. HYPEX's 16:37 list had the
Striker Burst. At 20:11 UTC he posted that the
Wrecker Revolver "returns next update with the Loot Hacks" and "replaces the
Striker Burst that Fortnite announced earlier"; two minutes later
@FireMonkey wrote that the Striker Burst Loot Hack "appears to have been changed
by Epic Games, and will instead be the Wrecker Revolver". Both are hedged and both are quoted
as posted. @ShiinaBR posted the same swap thirty-two seconds after FireMonkey
and hedged none of it — "Wrecker Revolver returns on Thursday", and "the Striker Burst Rifle
will no longer be unvaulted" (permalink,
20:13:32 UTC). Three named leakers inside two minutes, so the list above reflects the later
pair.
What "refreshed" means for dust you have already spent. Epic's wording is four words inside a longer list, posted August 28 at 03:02 UTC: "new Overrides, new & unvaulted Weapons, new Sprites, Loot Hacks Refreshed + more we're announcing soon" (permalink). That is the whole of what Epic has said about it, and it says nothing about Sprite Dust.
Read against how the section already works, "refreshed" should mean the reset happens for you and the dust stays in the field. Dust committed to a Loot Hack can already be reset and reallocated, but only to another Loot Hack — once it is in that section it cannot be spent anywhere else. On that reading the new lineup needs no new dust, because the dust never left. That reading is inference, not Epic's word. What Epic has not said is whether progress on a track you are part-way through survives the swap.
On the claim that dust is consumed unless you reset before the update: no named source says it. It is not in Epic's post, and as of 22:15 UTC on September 2 it is on none of the four dataminers' timelines. Settling it is not required to act — finish a Loot Hack you are part-way through before downtime, because a completed unlock is banked under either reading.
Where X-Ray came from. Per HYPEX, the design is by Brady,
who is eight. He shared the concept in June, inspired by the glasses he has worn since major
eye surgery at five, and it goes into the game on September 3. HYPEX posted the concept
against the in-game model
(permalink).
Epic has not published this account itself — but it is not HYPEX's alone.
@ShiinaBR posted the concept beside the final version five minutes earlier
(permalink), and had the underlying story on
August 7, crediting a TikTok by avila215 that went viral. Two named leakers, three weeks
apart.
Shipped: Storm Scout went live August 29
The storm-powered sprite Epic teased is out. It was enabled Saturday, August 29 at 1:55 PM ET during the first Sonic Power Hour, and both FireMonkey and HYPEX confirmed it within a minute of each other — using the name "Storm Scout" themselves, which settles the nickname question this page had open. Per HYPEX: taking 10 Storm damage triggers Overdrive and Unlimited Stamina for 12-20 seconds depending on the sprite's level, and at max level it reveals future Storm Circles. It has moved off this page onto the main tracker, where it belongs now that it is live.
The Power Hour weekend also boosted sprite drops generally: Sonic, Tails and Shadow appeared more often (variants included), Sonic Power Sneakers had a raised chest drop rate, and 1-Up Tokens and Portable Extractors could turn up in chests as rare finds.
Teased for the next update
Following the Override vault/un-vault whiplash on the Override features
page, Epic's own account said it's "paying close attention to your feedback" and teased more
changes on the way: new Overrides, newly un-vaulted weapons, new Sprites, and refreshed Loot
Hacks, with "more unannounced content" on top. Shiina and
FireMonkey both tie this to the v42.10 update — FireMonkey initially wrote
v41.20 before correcting to v42.10. Update: Epic's own
@FortniteStatus account has since named the timing directly — "a few more things
coming in the 42.10 patch next Thursday" — posted late Thursday, August 27 ET, which
puts the patch on Thursday, September 3. That matches the date a tech outlet
had reported, and upgrades it from secondhand to Epic's own words. Epic said "next Thursday"
rather than printing the date, so the September 3 figure is one step of counting away from the
source rather than quoted from it.
Confirmed: New Sprite Day, Thursday August 27
Four new Cheat Master variants launch at the weekly reset: Klombo (Epic's calling it ultra-rare — expect an extremely low spawn rate), Shadow, Jackrabbit, and Killswitch. Same day, six Cheat Master variants that were previously code-only join the regular loot pool too — Bush, Jonesy, 8-Bit, Adventure, Sonic, and Tails — so their lobby-hack codes (GatherAndCraft, Play4All, Born2Play, 8BitBlast, IWannaFlyHigh, GottaGoFast) stop being the only way to get them.
More from Epic's own patch notes (August 26)
Two more confirmed items straight from the same article as the Sprite Dust cap update on the Guides page. First: "Drop in starting this Saturday to get your hands on a brand new storm-powered sprite, debuting during this weekend's Power Hour" — this shipped on schedule. See the Storm Scout section above. Second: Epic says Sprites "will be removed from Ranked in the near future" while they evaluate whether sprite-collecting belongs in the Ranked loot pool — no date given, casual play unaffected.
